I started with a large Match Box from Fernli Design...these arrive flat packed and are very easy to assemble.
You can you any glue to assemble them with, PVA works as good as any..in my case for the drawer of the match box I used Pinflair Book glue.
All Fernli Design products are super smooth so no prepertion is needed, it's down to personal choice if you want to prime the item first..personally I have found I can apply texture pastes and dark paints directly to my project..a light primer of gesso is better if you are going to paint it using very pale colours.
Showing the Match Box with the first coat of paint.
Using Burnt Umber acrylic paint I gave the match box 2 coats of paint and using Terrocotta Acrylic paint I painted the inside of the drawer twice. The colour is a lot darker after being painted twice.
I also used the gilding wax and rusty patina on the front of the drawer.
I assembled all my embellishments on to the match box..swapping the winged goggles that I was going to use originally for a metal frame..I stamped Industrial Man on some scrap card for inside the frame, the stamp is by Paperartsy. I also added the knob to the front of the drawer.
I search in my stash and found some theme related items to add to the match box drawer...the long key was treated with rusty patina.
I slid the drawer in to its cover..there is plenty of room for the drawers as the design has allowed for painting etc.
Thank you to all that have viewed mt tutorial, its very much appreciated..please be kind enough to leave feedback...
